Alexander Wang reimagines Bvlgari’s iconic Serpenti motif for an exclusive and limited handbag capsule collection and celebrates the launch of the “Serpenti Through the Eyes of Alexander Wang” with an exclusive one-night-only experience at 712 Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The Alexander Wang x Bvlgari reinterprets the Iconic Serpenti Forever Bag and the concept of packaging as luxury. Inspired by Bvlgari’s heritage and blending Wang’s signature high-low approach, the focal point of the collection is to use traditional packaging components including the watch box, the dust bag and the paper shopping bag along with a vintage-inspired Bvlgari serpent head jewel from the 1950s. The result is a new fun and fresh proposition for the handbag category with the makings of a new signature motif.
The event included performances by rapper Rick Ross while attendees included Hailey Beiber, Quavo, Tiffany Haddish, Nicole Scherzinger, Coco Rocha, Dua Lipa, Gala Gonzalez, David Alexander Flinn and more.
“The concept for this event came to me when I stumbled upon a re-run of the 80’s classic, Mannequin, with Kim Cattrall. We wanted to recreate the magic of what could happen in a department store once the lights went out.
The Serpenti capsule collection innovates new shapes with traditional silhouettes. The six different styles including the hero Belt Bag are available in a range of materials and sizes, spanning from soft calf leather in a colour palette of white, black and mint green to lush natural python skin and shiny lizard.
This collection joins an eclectic mix of new innovative shapes with traditional silhouettes to produce an instantly recognisable collection. The Shopping tote, available in three sizes, shows a clean, functional design elevated by the precious snakebite detail, while the new Minaudière is a playful nod to Bvlgari’s DNA as a jeweller: its square, structured shape conjures a jewellery box, while its custom Serpenti bracelet attachment is constructed in the brand’s iconic tubogas style. Lastly, the Two-in-One satchel, a supple leather satchel shaped handbag with drawstring leather dust bag exterior, complete with a vintage-inspired serpent head flap closure rounds out the offering.
