FRANCK PROVOST QATAR

COLOURED HAIR DIARIES

Since the Covid 19 quarantine, the inability to have a hair salon appointment and have our tresses retouched means many are now having to contend with the horror of visible roots and grey hair! Yet the professionals at Franck Provost Qatar says we should not stress and has shared their tips for covering grey hair and maintaining blonde or highlighted hair at home.

TIPS FROM SENIOR STYLIST BASSAM

Choosing the right colour to cover grey hairs is crucial. It’s important to ask your hair stylist for your correct colour level so you can avoid complicated colour correction when you get your first salon appointment when the quarantine is lifted. When touching up your colour, apply colour only at the roots and, if you don’t see any grey hairs, don’t try to touch the hair up!

Always use colour protecting shampoo and conditioner, such as Bain Chromatique from Kérastase, Serie Expert Vitamino colour from L’Oréal Professional or sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. This will help keep your hair colour shiny and avoid the tones fading.

Don’t forget to moisturise your hair as often as possible especially if you have blonde or highlighted hair and use a deep conditioning masque at least once a week! Avoid washing your hair with hot water because it will make  your colour fade faster. Use lukewarm-cold water instead.

If you have blonde hair, it’s important not to try any kind of bleach or hair lighteners at home. Incorrect use of bleach will damage your hair and you might not achieve your desired results.

TIPS FROM SENIOR STYLIST ALINA

It’s important to maintain hair with the correct products – starting from the scalp. Choose a daily shampoo without a strong pH because the shampoo needs to blend with the natural pH of the scalp, otherwise you will have problems like itching, dry scalp or heavy hair.

Treated or coloured hair needs extra care and you should use an antioxidant shampoo to maintain good and lasting colour.

Longer hair requires regular deep conditioning at the tips which can be achieved with a nourishing hair masque and you’ll get the best results if you leave the product on for at least 10 minutes. Thin, natural or virgin hair also needs extra care from a simple leave -in conditioner.

Finally, massage one drop of oil into the hair ends for more beautiful tresses!
