Inspired by the almond trees at La Colle Noire, La Collection Privée Dior Paradise – the latest fragrance from the famed house – evokes the theme of the garden, a perennial source of inspiration and idealised paradise for Christian Dior.
Inspired by Hectares of Flowering and Fruit Trees
As we know, throughout his lifetime, the couturier-perfumer constantly recreated the lost Eden of his childhood garden in Granville. Captivated by the memory of this original paradise, Christian Dior went on to design the garden at his house in Milly-La-Forêt, followed by La Colle Noire in the Grasse countryside – his ultimate, vast and perfect masterpiece.
The Provençal estate and home, where every last detail had been designed to reawaken the memory of his childhood paradise, was also a place whose natural beauty and harmony inspired his future collections.
It was at this estate that he lovingly planted hectares and hectares of fragrant flowers such as jasmine grandiflorum, centifolia rose and lavender. Fruit trees too, and olive trees, from which a delicious oil is still extracted, as well as a vine from which rosé wine is enjoyed today. Among all these wonders, hundreds of almond trees blossomed at the end of winter.

The radiant and woody scent of Dior Paradise pays a luminous tribute not only to the tender memory of Christian Dior’s childhood paradise, but also to the hundreds of almond trees that blossomed at La Colle Noire.
“Dior Paradise was born from the desire to continue my olfactory tribute to Christian Dior’s life in the South of France. I wanted to revive the memory of the immense orchard that he composed at the Château de La Colle Noire, and in particular, fulfill his desire to see hundreds of almond trees growing there. The sight of the trees in flower, the scent of their sweet aroma and a hint of spring light – these are the captivating colours and scents that I wanted to convey in the Dior Paradise fragrance,” said Perfume Creation Director at Diro, Francis Kurkdijan.
Christian Dior adored barley water syrup, too, which he would blend into beverages. Dior Paradise blends these sources of inspiration in a fragrance where creamy and addictive bitter almond meets the tang of a citrus cocktail enveloped in delicious Tonka Bean. Pure pleasure and sweetness.
