A Platform For Understanding And Support

An intimate gathering, intended to raise awareness and promote dialogue about breast cancer, was hosted by Fairmont Doha, in collaboration with the Qatar Cancer Foundation, to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event took place at Fairmont Doha’s iconic lobby café, Dôme Lounge, and brought together local guests and key voices in the community.

Dr. Ertifaa Al Sheemari, Qatar’s first female oncologist, and Shamsa Al Fahd, Executive Director of Raffles and Fairmont Doha, shared the stage with Qatar TV producer and influencer Noora Al Kaabi and Mona Ashkanani, the Qatar Cancer Foundation general manager (GM).

Their invaluable insights and stories of hope and courage guided the gathering in Arabic, offering a platform for understanding and support.

Health educators from The View Hospital were also present to provide further educational resources and support.

Fairmont Doha’s partnership with the Qatar Cancer Foundation underscores the hotel’s commitment to giving back to the local community and advocating for breast cancer awareness.

The gathering highlighted the importance of early detection and support systems for those affected by the disease, fostering unity and resilience among attendees.

To honour the strength and grace of women battling breast cancer, Fairmont Doha will also present a Pink Afternoon Tea at Dôme Lounge.

Under the expert hands of Executive Pastry Chef Romain, guests will indulge in exquisite, pink-themed delicacies – each representing a symbol of hope, courage and solidarity.

The special menu will feature a selection of cold and hot canapés, sweet treats and scones, all carefully crafted to complement the breast cancer awareness initiative. Highlights include Smoked Salmon & Dill Cream Cheese Sandwiches, Chicken & Eggplant Pinwheel, Red Cabbage Jelly, Pink Macaron with Vanilla Ganache and Pink Berry & Orange Sconesserved with Pink Mascarpone Cream.

Set against the serene backdrop of Dome’s elegant ambience, this thoughtful offering will allow guests to come together in solidarity and pay tribute to the unwavering courage of women in the fight against breast cancer.

Proceeds from the Pink Afternoon Tea will support the initiatives of the Qatar Cancer Foundation, contributing to ongoing efforts in cancer research and patient care.

“We are privileged to host this gathering and Pink Afternoon Tea as part of our commitment to supporting such an important cause,” said Shamsa Al Fahd.

“Through this initiative, we hope to raise awareness, celebrate the resilience of women and inspire our community to stand united in the fight against breast cancer.”
