OPTIMISM AND DETERMINATION

This month, OHLALA sat with Aida Remach, Founder and Managing Director at AR Brand Consulting, to discuss starting a business and success.

OHLALA – You founded AR Brand Consulting in 2020. What made you start your own business?
Aida Remach –
I consider myself super ambitious. I started in the media field, worked with international magazines, managed influencers and created content for personalised campaigns. I was mostly out there in the forefront, learning, doing and sharpening my skills. My love for this dynamic media industry only grew. The year 2020 was when I realised I needed to start a business of my own, so I found a niche and tried my luck.

OHLALA – You started your company in the middle of a pandemic. How did you cope with this situation and manage to grow your business?
Aida –
The pandemic was a difficult time for most businesses around the world. Starting my company amidst this extra difficulty was hard, but perseverance really got me through. I decided to deal with it one day at a time. One thing about the new slow-paced, pandemic-hit life was that it gave us enough time to think through every decision. This helped me build a strong foundation. So, along with my team’s and talents’ support, the business was ready to flourish by the time the world was back on track.

OHLALA – Can you tell us more about the services you offer and how you came up with this business concept?
Aida –
AR Brand Consulting is a marketing agency; we cater to various brands, businesses and public figures. Our services range from consulting at the initial point of opening a company to the final product it offers. I have been part of the media industry for a brief time, which helped me select this industry. I only had to find a niche, but with my family’s neverending support, I could take it forward.

OHLALA – What is the biggest differential that your company offers?
Aida –
I like to call us an ever-evolving company. We started with basic marketing services like business consultancy and influencer management and have progressed to events and social media management. The market requires you to redesign your services constantly, and AR Brand Consulting is right there. We truly believe in our tagline – “Committed to growing your brand” – we will do whatever it takes for our clients’ businesses to rise. And I think that with the rising competition in the Qatari market, this is the only way forward. We are completely engaged with the projects we take on and make it a point to understand what we can do and what we cannot. As they say, don’t bite off more than you can chew!

OHLALA – Being an entrepreneur is not always the easiest career path. What are the biggest challenges?
Aida –
Entrepreneurship brings with it a fear of uncertainty. What usually plagues my mind is this unpredictability. You want to be prepared for whatever the future brings. But, as I said earlier, I deal with my business one day at a time. The only way to battle uncertainty is not to worry about it because, come what may good or bad, the only way out of it is through it!

OHLALA – On the other hand, being the owner of your business can be very rewarding. What are your most significant accomplishments?
Aida –
Personally, I take pride in the fact that AR Brand Consulting still exists. We have encountered numerous challenges and successfully managed to steer the boat in the right direction. What makes me happy is that the company is evolving – slowly but certainly. Our clients keep coming back to us, which is the biggest positive testimonial to our services.

OHLALA – What makes you the happiest at work?
Aida –
The excitement of a new client approaching us will forever be my favourite feeling. It’s the light of a unique opportunity arising. On the other hand, completing a project, whether event management or consulting, is equivalent to holding a victory cup!

OHLALA – Do you have a specific routine or mantra that you use every day to keep you motivated?
Aida –
To be honest, I do not. It’s my faith that keeps me going. I believe in embracing whatever the day brings – good or bad. And whether it’s a successful or a challenging project we are facing, the one question that persists is “what’s next?”. How we decide to move forward and deal with it is the biggest concern. Maybe, that is the mantra – finding solutions and learning new lessons.

OHLALA – How do you see the importance of having women leading businesses in different fields?
Aida –
I genuinely find relief and peace in the fact that more women get to embrace leadership positions. Breaking boundaries that previously held us back is freeing; it gives me comfort for the future. Although women’s representation has magnanimously increased, there is still a long way to go, but I am optimistic.

“There are times when you will have to make tough decisions but believe in yourself and move forward. But most of all, have fun, make mistakes, explore and learn!”

– Aida Remach

OHLALA – How do you balance your personal life and your professional aspirations?
Aida –
I think balancing life and profession is a myth. I believe in prioritising. It entirely depends on the situation; I tend to give priority to where I am most needed. It’s all about managing your personal and professional life and not balancing it.

OHLALA – What words of wisdom can you share with people looking to start their own venture?
Aida –
Perseverance, patience and a strong belief system are the roads to accomplishing anything in life. You have to really figure out why you want to start a business – aligning your goals can bring immense clarity and focus. There are times when you will have to make tough decisions but believe in yourself and move forward. But most of all, have fun, make mistakes, explore and learn!

OHLALA – What do you like the most about Qatar?
Aida –
I’ve spent almost 10 years of my life in this country, and I can tell you one thing for sure, Qatar has evolved fast. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. is proof! It has amazed me how beautifully it managed one of the world’s largest and most awaited sporting events, and that too with such grace. It makes me proud to be a part of this country.
