A Hammam ritual is what Sanaa Choudry experienced on her visit to eforea Spa at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas.

Having made its grand debut in February 2021, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas quickly cemented its place as one of the largest and most sought-after destinations in the Middle East. With a sprawling 3.5km private beach, a wide range of accommodations – including some of the most luxurious villas you’ll find anywhere – and the adrenaline-filled Desert Falls Water & Adventure Park, the resort has continued to enchant both children and adults alike.
On previous visits, I’ve sampled the much-loved Dante Cucina Italiana restaurant, indulged in the expansive buffet and even stayed overnight to experience the thrills of the water park first-hand. But today’s visit promised something altogether different and perhaps, more indulgent. This time, I was there for a rejuvenating Hammam experience at the resort’s eforea Spa.
After an hour’s drive from The Pearl, I was more than ready to unwind, as the Doha heat was intensifying in the mid-afternoon sun, and a Turkish Hammam was the perfect way to detox both mind and body.

A LUXURIOUS REFUGE
Tucked within a serene, multi-level sanctuary, the award-winning eforea Spa reimagines wellness with its guiding philosophy of ‘emerging brighter’. Blending time-honoured rituals with contemporary techniques, this haven of renewal offers 13 treatment rooms, two opulent VIP suites and authentic Turkish and Moroccan Hammams. Guests can immerse themselves in a range of traditional thermal therapies – from soothing saunas and aromatic steam rooms to invigorating monsoon showers, ice fountains and heated vitality pools – all complemented by lounge spaces designed for pure relaxation.
Upon entering, you’re immediately struck by the magnitude of the resort and the spa (though tucked into one section) retains every bit of that grandeur: tall ceilings, ivory marble-clad panels, unique custom-built water features and breathtaking panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf make the experience nothing short of extraordinary.
Mirroring the Arabian heritage of the resort, the spa’s entrance is adorned with a white and brilliantly bright blue exterior, the vibrant hues evoking both coastal serenity and cultural richness. Throughout every crevice, the spa exudes a serene elegance, illuminated by the soft glow of dimly lit candles and lanterns. A striking chandelier hangs overhead, casting a warm, golden light that dances across the intricately engraved pillars and ceilings.
Greeted by Winifred at reception, I was handed a form to ensure my experience was entirely tailored to my personal needs. Before the treatment began, I had the opportunity to sample a range of products from Argansus – a locally crafted, all-natural brand used in the spa’s body and facial treatments for both men and women, and also available for purchase.
First up was the coconut milk and honey body bath, which was a delectable and creamy, syrupy cleanser that nourishes the skin, with a beautiful scent lingering long after it has been rinsed off. Just as I was soaking in the luxurious feel of it, Winifred whipped out the rose petal body scrub that was infused with the finest microbeads to offer a thorough yet gentle exfoliation, leaving my skin silky smooth.
The Argansus collection includes a variety of 100% natural products, from body oils and facial elixirs to moisturisers suited for both day and night, making it a perfect extension of the spa experience at home.

A REJUVENATING RITUAL
Now onto the spa experience itself. Attentive and considerate, from start to finish, I was in the thoughtful care of Dilhani, who ensured every detail was taken care of. She gave me a full tour of the changing rooms and the extensive spa and sauna facilities, all while keeping me comfortably hydrated with refreshing water and soothing chamomile tea.
Draped in the softest, most luxurious cotton robe, I made my way into the Hammam treatment space and, after eight years of living in Doha, I can confidently say I have never encountered anything quite like it. At the heart of the room lies an octagonal heated marble slab, surrounded by elegant pillars, graceful arches, a domed ceiling and individual basins. Every detail is accented with rich shades of deep blue that add to the regal feel. I was ready to begin my Hammam ceremony, a beautifully choreographed ritual of cleansing and renewal, expertly performed by the skilled Subina.
As I lay on the warm marble slab, a wave of calm washed over me, grounding me in the moment. The therapy began with a gentle yet invigorating cleanse using nourishing oils and fragrant black soap, the scent alone beginning to melt away tension. After this initial phase, I was led to a pre-heated steam room designed to open the pores and deepen the effects of the treatment.
The warmth was soothing and immersive, while a bucket of ice and cool water was thoughtfully provided to help regulate my temperature and heighten the sensory experience. In minutes, I was drenched in sweat, and it felt as though the weight of the entire week had evaporated with the steam. My body felt lighter, almost like layers of fatigue had been shed. Returning to the slab, a traditional exfoliation with a Kessa glove left every inch of me smooth.
For those seeking an even more indulgent ritual, the 90-minute Royal Hammam elevates the experience further with the application of a nourishing honey and royal jelly mask – an opulent touch inspired by Cleopatra’s own beauty secrets.
The treatment concluded with a deeply relaxing massage and hydrating finish, which left my skin glowing and my mind at complete peace. This went far beyond any spa treatment; it was a blissful journey! Like a queen retiring to her chambers, I left rejuvenated and wrapped in quiet grandeur.
In every detail, the experience at eforea Spa at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort was nothing short of majestic. For those seeking serenity fit for royalty, this spa is a sanctuary worthy of a crown.
