AQUA ALLEGORIA

JOYFUL BY NATURE

Two new fragances as joyful as the season of freshness

Poetic, surprising, addictive. Since 1999, the fresh fragrances in the Aqua Allegoria collection have explored new gardens, real and imaginary, spreading dreamy freshness along the way. Nature is boundless, a precious field of infinite possibility, from which Thierry Wasser, Guerlain Master Perfumer, and Delphine Jelk, Guerlain Perfumer, take their inspiration. In their moments of escape, their four hands and two spirits constantly push the limits of creativity. From far-flung essences, to rustic petals by way of perfumery’s most legendary blooms, their materials come together – oh so emblematically – like a swarm of bees, so each formula becomes a nectar steeped in terroir, culture and the spirit of the moment.

A splash of freshness that vibrates on the skin. A journey for the imagination and the senses.

A garden doesn’t need to actually exist to be contained within a bottle. Imagining a garden allows you to keep endlessly creating. The possibilities become immense; that’s the very essence of Aqua Allegoria.” THIERRY WASSER

“I love working with the poetry of a material, faceting it in an unexpected way, or resetting some of the most classic notes by putting them in tune with the times. That’s the challenge that makes each of these fresh Eaux de Toilette so modern.” DELPHINE JELK

A WILD FLOWER FIELD & A BEAUT Y HONEY

A deep desire to reconnect with yourself. As returning to Nature has become pervasive in fragrance, Aqua Allegoria’s philosophy has never felt so timely.

Bees soar, gathering pollen from garden to garden, exalting in everything from the simplest of flowers to some of the planet’s most extraordinary species. Ever since it first landed on the iconic Bee Bottle in 1853, Bees have symbolized beauty as well as the legacy and preservation of Nature. As an infinite source of inspiration for Guerlain, Bees have permeated Abeille Royale – their own eponymous skincare range – adorned our most precious bottles, enhanced special limited-edition creations and landed, most ingeniously, on many of the House’s cultural endeavours (including exhibitions and literary prizes).

At Guerlain, Bees represent a passionate commitment to sustainability and the desire to strive for a more beautiful and sustainable world. For ten years, Guerlain has dedicated many of its programmes and partnerships to Bees, including sponsorship of the Ouessant Island Brittany Black Bee Conservatory Association, a partnership with the French Apidology Observatory, a Bee School programme supported by Guerlain employees for raising bee preservation awareness among young people. And, the last one is the Women & Bees women’s entrepreneurial beekeeping programme in partnership with UNESCO MAB in its Biosphere reserves and partnerships with the GoodPlanet and Elyx foundations.

As a guide, the Bee has become an irreplaceable emblem for Guerlain. This season, it embroiders a golden thread through two fragrant allegories and two olfactive stories. Devoted to this wonderful alchemy, the new Aqua Allegoria editions draw from the most beautiful nature has to offer, with respect. And this is what Flora Salvaggia and Nettare di Sole are all about. The first tells of a wild flower field, quivering with joyful headiness. The second explores a honeyed bouquet assembled from the greatest flowers in fragrance. After all, bees are more than just a symbol, they are our original perfumer.

FLORA SALVAGGIA

Tall grasses quiver and rustle in the distance as Bees dance. Nature vibrates with joy. A wildflower accord. The heady scent of Jasmine Sambac fragrances a bend in the path. The imagination takes flight. The warm embrace of the sun as it melts with the soft fragrance of orange blossom. The heat of the day as it hits its peak. The fresh fruitiness of melon as it quenches the skin. A sunny and magnetic aroma. White musk alongside a small, powdered hint of violet and iris. All senses on alert.

A wonderful sense of freedom.

NETTARE DI SOLE

Delicious without being sweetly gourmand. Sublime, bold and comforting. Refreshing too. As if Bees only pollinated the very greatest flowers in fragrance. Magnolia, Rose, Jasmine Sambac. A beauty honey. The hot caress of the sun on the skin met with the sensation of an icy, aquatic wave. At the head comes the bold insolence of Calabrian Bergamot, an emblematic signature for Guerlain since its 1853 Eau de Cologne.

A nectar of joy.

THE JOYFUL BY NATURE FILM

A synaesthetic immersion into the Aqua Allegoria universe that dives straight into the heart of the fragrance’s materials.

Flowers, honey, musk and bergamot touch, see and fragrance each other in a mix of colour, texture and scent. In an enchanted and enchanting garden Constance Jablonski appears as Nettare di Sole and He Cong as Flora Salvaggia. Both more natural than ever.

The emotion feels palpable. Aqua Allegoria, like a moment for yourself, becomes a joyful ritual to exchange, layer or gift… The 2021 advertising campaign explores all the happiness of this constantly revisited season of freshness.

Alongside this creative daring comes the echo of the freedom and the power that comes with adopting your own fragrance.

THE FLOWER GUY, AN INSPIRED COLLABORATION

Better known by his pseudonym, The Flower Guy, American Michael De Feo is on a mission to paint fowers.

For 25 years, his stylistically painted daisies have brightened walls across the world’s great capitals, flourished on the pages of glossy magazines and bloomed in art galleries.

Naturally, the Guerlain House therefore looked to the street artist to bring colour to the Aqua Allegoria fragrances. He likes Bergamot and takes inspiration from greenery as well as all the sounds, colours and shades he finds himself surrounded by. Under this New Yorker’s paint brush strokes, the famous eaux de toilette collection’s bottle sleeves take on a resolutely pop-art feel.

An artistic point of view has long been integral to Guerlain’s heritage

And this new generation of floral sleeves by Michael De Feo wonderfully highlights and accentuates sculptor Robert Granai’s famous honeycomb bottles as well as the Bees behind the flowers. A timeless story of Nature, allegory and a legacy of modernity.

For Flora Salvaggia and Nettare di Sole, the New York artist has played with colour, scent, shape and texture in a deliciously refreshing synesthetic game.
