BIBO and Lobito de Mar, by Dani García, received the distinction ‘Restaurant from Spain´ in Doha

Two of Chef Dani Garcia’s restaurants in Qatar—Lobito de Mar at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl, and BiBo at the St Regis Doha—received the designation “Restaurant from Spain” on September 28 from Mr. Javier Carbajosa Sánchez, the Spanish Ambassador to Qatar.

This international distinction is granted by ICEX Spain Exports and Investments, public entity ascribed to the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.  It is an acknowledgement of restaurants operating outside of Spain that provide their clientele with authentic high-quality Spanish cuisine and products.

The Committee that selects the restaurants that will bear this seal of quality (that includes the Royal Academy of Gastronomy; the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, FACYRE, the Regulatory Council for Sherry Wines, ANFACO, INTERPORC, the Spanish Wine Federation, the REPSOL Guide, and the Ministry of Tourism in Castile-La Mancha) has chosen these two restaurants among the best gastronomic ambassadors of Spain in the world.

Alfardan Hospitality provided the first expansion for Dani Garcia through their steadfast support for the progress within Doha. Progressing forward, Alfardan Hospitality and Dani Garcia both intend to strengthen achievement and excellence through additional growth, outside of Spain, and outstanding delivery.

At the time of presenting this award, Ambassador Carbajosa drew attention to “the importance of having two high quality Spanish restaurants for people in Doha”. Mr. Carbajosa “thanked Dani García for his efforts at the helm of BIBO and Lobito de Mar, which serves to present a very positive impression of Spanish cuisine”. Furthermore, he encouraged Dani García to “continue doing his best to build the gastronomic relationship between Spain and Qatar”. In addition, Dani Garcia affirms that this accreditation will provide Dani Garcia’s Group’s international, which began in 2019, a tremendous push. The Group now maintains 14 restaurants, and by the end of the year, 8 more will be established, bringing the total to 22. The Group’s objective is to spread Chef Dani Garcia’s conception of cutting-edge cuisine and his interpretation of Andalusia’s cuisine across Qatar, through Alfardan Hospitality, as well as across the world.
