YOUR MAJESTY

The French jewellery house Boucheron has found inspiration in British Royalty to create its Historie de Style, Like a Queen collection.

Some jewellery pieces are just so iconic that they become an inspiration for new designs. Boucheron’s new Historie de Style, Like a Queen High Jewellery collection reinterprets one of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved pieces. When the then Princess Elizabeth turned 18 in 1944, she received a Boucheron aquamarine and diamond double-clip brooch. A sentimental item that she wore throughout her reign. This unique article inspired Claire Choisne, the maison’s Creative Director, to design 18 contemporary new jewels – she started working on the collection in 2020.

The designer wanted to work with this particular Art Deco jewel to create an up-to-date collection suitable for all genres. “Being able to wear a piece in a number of ways, as well as the use of colour, were central to our work on this collection so that both men and women may wear these pieces,” said Claire. A cherry ruby necklace, a pink tourmaline brooch, an azure aquamarine cuff bracelet, earrings adorned with lush emeralds, and more. Histoire de Style, Like a Queen, stands out with its monochrome plays on joyful, intense colours, inspired by the spirit of the bright outfits Queen Elizabeth famously wore throughout her public life. Like a story told through 18 chapters, the collection transcends its initial objective – to construct a full High Jewellery collection inspired by a single piece – and offers a glimpse into royalty.
