OHLALA’s Matthijs Bos and his significant other embarked on a blissful experience at eforea Spa at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas. Relaxation mode – on!

With an aesthetically pleasing design reminiscent of Marrakesh architecture, a diverse array of spa facilities and services and a team of dedicated multinational professionals, eforea Spa at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas has everything you need for a rejuvenating guest experience.

Upon arrival with my better half for a couples’ massage at Hilton Salwa, we had mixed emotions and impressions about the place. After entering the premises, we came across the hustle and bustle of a busy family resort as kids were hanging on the side of a 4×4, rushing towards the waterpark. I shook my Dutch head disapprovingly and laughed at the same time. The Hilton Salwa lobby entrance seemed hectic, which was oddly charming and enchanting.

Entering the spa, it felt as if the lobby chaos transitioned into blissful Arabian bathhouse décor. Spaciousness, comfort and splendid architectural features were pre-massaging our eyes. A warm and hospitable hostess greeted us as cold towels, and herbal drinks were served. The massage menu wfas presented, and options were explained patiently and accurately.

Browsing through the rich massage menu with my habibti, our eyes glanced over the Balinese Massage option. Knowing the mental strain and physical stress my partner has been under, I advised her to pick a 60-minute Balinese massage and 30-minute head massage, as I chose 90 minutes of bliss through herbal sacs, deep heat and long strokes: the Thai Herbal Poultice massage.

In the herbal poultice massage, the application of heat through sacs (made of cloth) combined with long strokes by hand and acupressure ensure an all-around experience with maximised wellness benefits. These benefits include better blood circulation, which leads to accelerated tissue rebuilding, relief of joint pain and relaxation of muscles.

Compresses can be filled with dried and crushed mixed herbs such as tamarind or acacia leaf, borneol camphor, lemongrass and salts. The spice-based poultice can be made of a mixture of peppercorns, cloves and other leaf-like ingredients, which all have their specific healing properties, according to Ayurvedic science.

The in-room and massage experience, in our case, a very spacious couples’ room with an en-suite Jacuzzi, steam room and showers, can be described as magnificent. Our massage therapists, Ratima and Jocelyn, were professional, skilled and worked in unison. From the moment we lay down, the anticipated journey began with a soft voice and a soft touch. I am a massage enthusiast, but what satisfied me the most in this experience was the sight of my better half being in a deep state of relaxation and at utter peace with herself. She even slightly dozed off, looking peaceful with a smile of satisfaction on her pretty face. For once, she did not nag me for Thai food.

The dreadful moment when we heard our therapists saying, ”Your treatment is finished now,” was luckily followed by an astounding experience in the wet areas of the establishment. Your post-massage experience will be at either the male or female wet areas where one can enjoy luxurious facilities, such as a sauna, steam room or a spacious jet pool. The lovely attendant will encourage you to enjoy the Experience Shower, which I would highly recommend.

The newly opened eforea Spa at Hilton Salwa will soon be sought after and renowned for outstanding quality and excellence. This spa truly has award-winning potential. Covid-19 rules are tough on the spa industry and may hinder spas’ abilities to provide top-notch wellness experiences. But I can honestly say, it won’t be long before Doha residents will be gladly making the trip to destination eforea Spa at Hilton Salwa for an unforgettable massage experience and well-deserved leisure time.

We did. We would do it again, and you certainly should!
