Boucheron has taken its Quatre collection to new heights with Quatre Sand Cuff.

Born from the maison’s perpetual pursuit of innovation, the capsule is a reinterpretation of the iconic Quatre, crafted with the cutting-edge technique of 3D-printing sand. Creative Director Claire Choisne joined black sand with yellow gold in a striking set of cuff bracelets and bangles.
Sand is elevated in Boucheron’s hands, but it’s not the first time the material has been used by the maison. In the 2015 Bleu de Jodhpur High Jewellery collection, sand from the Thar desert was embedded into a necklace made of rock crystal. The concept was taken a step further in the 2024 Carte Blanche collection, Or Bleu, inspired by the rushing waters and black sandy shores of Iceland.

To create the new pieces, Boucheron used a 3D sand-printing technique borrowed from the automotive and aeronautics industries. The polymer binder was precision-sprayed onto the sand in successive layers, barely a millimetre thick, like a millefeuille puff pastry, making the grains adhere to one another as if glued. This innovative process in jewellery yields a notably hardwearing material that retains the texture of the sand – a novel aesthetic that resonates with the maison’s experimental spirit.
These pieces were challenging to craft technically. First, the Creative Studio used 3D modelling to achieve the oversized dimensions they desired, while still reproducing the precision edges that characterise the signature Quatre pattern, Clou de Paris. Each black sand component was then 3D-printed before being mounted onto the gold structural bangle. Its polished inner surface and brushed edge maximise the interplay of textures and light, while a special coating seals in the sand’s colour. The clasp on each bangle is inconspicuous enough not to detract from the design’s purity and power.
Moving beyond technical details, the new capsule recreates the aesthetic of the Quatre icon. The seven-piece set can be worn stacked together or separately. The collection comprises one black sand and yellow gold bracelet featuring an XXL version of the Clou de Paris design; two other bracelets with the same materials and pattern in a smaller format; and four brushed gold bangles complete the set. Black sand was deliberately chosen for the radical contrast it creates against the warmth of yellow gold. This bold visual effect perfectly reflects the concept behind the Quatre collection. These creations are the ultimate fusion of style and innovation.
