POMELLATO REVEALS THE NUDO RIVIÈRE

THE NUDO RIVIÈRE BRINGS A DAZZLING INTENSITY OF COLOUR GEMSTONES TO THE NECK

The much-loved, trailblazing Nudo that began its journey 20 years ago continues to flourish. The simplicity of the Nudo concept, a nude stone offering a bare block of colour with minimal settings, has given Nudo an enviable longevity and adaptability. The latest arrivals to the Nudo family are four necklaces that combine the purity of Nudo’s signature style with the sophistication of the Clessidra cut.

With a passion for colour at the heart of every Pomellato jewel, the Milanese design team offers creative new ways to wear colour gemstones. Rivière, that means river in French, is a fluid semi-flexible necklace with a cluster of gemstones at its centre. The sensuality and generous volumes of the Clessidra cut, combined with the choice of pastel colours, make for a highly feminine look while maintaining Nudo’s hallmark boldness.

Creative Director Vincenzo Castaldo explains the design journey: ‘We were looking for a way to bring the iconic look of the Nudo to a short necklace without losing its original spirit of fun and daring. By using the Clessidra cut we give more volume and a richer colour to the bare gemstone without compromising the strong personality of Nudo. The simplicity and grace of the Nudo remains while offering a fresh take on the gemstone necklace.’

The Clessidra cut features one or two gemstones seamlessly set back-to-back and circled at the centre by a band of gold, giving rise to its name that means ‘hour-glass’ in Italian. This special cut offers an almost infinite number of combinations that opens the doors to fresh nuances of colour as well as mesmerising plays of translucency and opacity. As this cut has two faces, the gems sit directly against the skin for an intimate connection between the jewel and the wearer.

In this case, white topaz shimmers with a rich creaminess thanks to the addition of mother of pearl. Likewise, the delicate tinge of powder pink quartz is amplified by the presence of deep rose-colour chalcedony. In the blue tones, two topazes – in either sky blue or London blue hues – add an alluring intensity of colour to the décolleté.

The trio of stones that make up each Rivière are suspended between rigid, round rose gold bars, two of which are set with diamonds. For the white topaz and sky blue topaz versions, the diamonds are colourless while the rose quartz version is embellished with brown diamonds. As movement and ease of wear are key Pomellato design features, the chokers have a chain section at the back.

A more precious version of the Rivière features a dazzling mix of seven sky blue and London blue topazes and more than 300 white diamonds. The asymmetric arrangement of the different-sized stones creates the effect of drops of colour flowing over the skin with the ease of water. In keeping with Nudo’s philosophy of minimalist elegance, the necklace offers an understated way to wear over 80 carats of precious gemstones and 3.1 carats of white diamonds. The arrival of the Nudo Rivière shows the versatility of the Nudo that continues to go from strength to strength.
