Living in Doha means living amongst sun, sand, and salty air when it comes to maintaining one’s beauty regimen. OHLALA’s Anzish Mirza finds the solution at the city’s kingdom of beauty — enter Aldo Coppola Doha.

As the sun brings its warmth to the summer months, we all come out to get some vitamin D as we play in the sea and sand. But let’s face it, strong UV radiation and the salty air of Doha is no friend to skin or hair, so I am pleased to find a luxurious remedy as I venture out to Aldo Coppola Doha at Al Hazm Mall.

Nestled in the corner of this extravagant and leisurely structure on the first floor, this international beauty brand destination has the solutions to all your hair, skin, and nail problems. I am greeted by a clean-cut and glistening white interior, bolstered with red statement pieces. The luxury atelier features a very modern take on comfort, boldness, uniqueness, and innovation. Apart from the common areas, there are VIP suits for those clients preferring privacy.

These are furnished with cocooning beds, invented by Aldo Coppola in 2010, for clients wishing to enjoy a full body massage whilst receiving a hair treatment to complete the beauty journey. Before beginning my hair treatment, we start with a quick diagnosis of the scalp and hair before a personalised option is recommended by the stylist, who suggests a hydrating treatment to bring life into my strands that have just withered away.

Hello Hydration

There’s nothing more comforting than having someone wash your hair as they massage in shampoo and conditioner to rinse away dirt, product buildup, and stress. The chair at the washing station reclines to an almost horizontal position as it massages me from neck to toe, allowing me to lie flat and relaxed as my tresses comfortably cascade into the basin. As the technician cleans and caresses my locks, I stare up to the ceiling entranced by the beautiful mosaic patterns and enjoy the sounds of a retro playlist. After cleansing, my hair is lathered in a rich cream to infuse hydrating elements. My stylist tells me that it’s always preferred to treat damp hair, this way all the moisture from the water is locked in. Time flies by as I acknowledge the placement of the hot towel to steam the hair and absorb the hydration elements from my treatment. Each step of this process has my parched tresses, though quite damp, instantly feeling healthier and softer as they fall off my shoulders.
