The Height of Class

Cartier’s emblematic Panthère de Cartier watch’s simple design and exquisite details make it a timeless luxury piece.

The Panthère de Cartier watch is arguably one of the most iconic watches in the world of fashion and jewellery. It is, simply put, a piece of art. Its signature square case with rounded angles, its seamless curve of the horns and its rivets all make it a classic accessory.

The Panthère watch aspires for clean lines that do not take away from the softness of its design, making it, in essence, a jewellery watch. It takes its name from the Panthère bracelet, an ultra-flexible accessory that echoes the movements of the maison’s symbolic animal, the panther. Redesigned in 2017, the timepiece embodies the festive, free and glamorous spirit of the 1980s when it was created, celebrating a liberated feminine identity.

Its fluid, feminine and silky feel makes it an exquisite piece. The succession of curved and polished links provides a subtle finish and ergonomics, making the watch the supreme example of elegance. The dial displays the codes of Cartier: Roman numerals, railway track minute markers and blued sword-shaped hands. Additionally, the brand’s name is concealed in one of the numerals.

More than operations were conducted to produce the watch. The special colour of the hands comes from the oxidation of the steel through a unique heating process. The high temperature causes the colour to change from yellow to the beautiful blue emblematic of the watch. The bluing of the hands also prevents them from rusting. This process is part of an old watchmaking tradition. A genuine differential of the Panthère watch is that the seven-sided crown is set with a blue spinel or a sapphire for their precious versions.
