– Michael Guenoun, CEO of Baume & Mercier
OHLALA – Baume & Mercier is a brand that breathes heritage. What are the pillars that sustain its style? What are the maison’s core values?
Michael Guenoun – Baume & Mercier’s style is built upon a foundation of timeless elegance and a commitment to capturing life’s precious moments. Our core values revolve around craftsmanship, innovation and a dedication to creating watches that are both beautiful and functional. We strive to offer exceptional quality and design at a fair price point, giving customers the joy of owning a fine timepiece.
OHLALA – Understanding that Baume & Mercier carries its legacy and creations to this day, how do you position the brand in modern times?
Michael – Baume & Mercier blends classic design codes with modern materials and a contemporary sensibility. We aim to be a maison that honours its past while embracing the future, offering timepieces that are both timeless and perfectly suited for the modern lifestyle.
OHLALA – What do you think makes your Middle Eastern customers appreciate Baume & Mercier so much? Why do they connect with the brand?
Michael – Baume & Mercier resonates globally by offering refined design, reliable performance and timeless creations, and the Middle East represents an important region for the maison. In Qatar, our watches represent cherished symbols of life’s milestones thanks to our long history as well as our commitment to quality, craftsmanship and enduring style. We have recently opened a new boutique in Villaggio Mall to be closer to the local and growing clientele.

OHLALA – Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025 was the stage to launch the maison’s latest innovations. Can you highlight some of them?
Michael – Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025 was an excellent opportunity to showcase our latest creations. This year, we launched new chronographs in 41mm, including a limited-edition flyback chronograph with telemeter and tachymeter functions, displaying a resolutely vintage style. In addition, we revisited our Clifton collection, incorporating new design codes inspired by an original piece from the 1950s. These new additions demonstrate our commitment to combining watchmaking tradition with contemporary innovation. Last, within our ladies’ segment, we launched three Riviera 33mm pieces, embracing the summertime spirit with pastel dials, celebrating casual elegance and conviviality.
OHLALA – Do you have a favourite Baume & Mercier watch? If so, why this specific model?
Michael – I have a deep appreciation for the entire Baume & Mercier collection; each piece resonates with me in its own way, depending on the occasion. But if I were to single one out among this year’s novelties, it would be the Riviera Chronograph Black & White 10827 because of its bold design and contrasting aesthetic, which make it a unique and captivating piece. It perfectly embodies the spirit of Baume & Mercier, combining sporty elegance and watchmaking expertise.
OHLALA – What can we expect from Baume & Mercier in the near future? Any news that you can share with us?
Michael – We are constantly exploring new designs, materials and technologies to further enhance our offerings. You can expect to see continued innovation within our existing collections, as well as the introduction of exciting new models that stay true to our core values. Furthermore, we are committed to deepening our presence in the women’s segment, building on Baume & Mercier’s pioneering history of creating timepieces specifically for women. Stay tuned!
