IWC SHAFFHAUSEN & AL MAJED JEWELLERY PRESENT THEIR GRAND PRIX LOUNGE

IWC Schaffhausen, the renowned Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, unveiled a bespoke Grand Prix lounge on the terrace of its Boutique at Place Vendôme, Qatar in collaboration with local partner, Al Majed Jewellery.

On October 5, IWC inaugurated its lounge with an exclusive gathering of over 60 IWC guests. The evening was filled with vibrant entertainment, including a live DJ, an electric guitar player, and personalized F1 merchandise. The event perfectly set the mood for the exciting F1 weekend that followed.

Following the opening night and during the Grand Prix weekend from October 6 to 8, clients were invited to an exclusive screening of the practice, qualifying, and the captivating F1 race. On the terrace, there was an F1 gaming console, allowing guests to immerse in the F1 action in a gamified universe while exploring IWC’s AMG timepieces, such as the motorsport-inspired Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388108).

The lounge was built to highlight IWC’s long-standing affiliation with the racing world and partnership with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team. First formed in 2013, the collaboration between the luxury Swiss watchmaker and the Formula One team was founded on a shared commitment to excellence.

Earlier this year, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team and IWC also welcomed George Russell, who currently drives for the team alongside fellow IWC brand ambassador Lewis Hamilton.

A CHRONOGRAPH IN A MOTORSPORT-INSPIRED MATERIAL

Introduced at the first Miami Grand Prix™ a year ago, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes- AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team” is crafted from remarkably rigid grade 5 titanium. IWC pioneered this material in the watch industry during the 1980s, when the company introduced the first wristwatch with a titanium case and bracelet. Offering the highest strength-to density ratio of any metal, titanium is about 45 percent lighter than steel. It is also widely used in automotive engineering to manufacture components subject to extreme stains, such as engine valves. In addition, titanium impresses with its corrosion-resistance and skin-friendliness. A black dial with printing and luminescence in the team’s signature shade of green complements the striking design. The chronograph is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre movement.

This robust chronograph movement in a column-wheel design comprises 242 parts and can be viewed through the sapphire glass back. Its bi-directional pawl winding system builds up a power reserve of 46 hours in the mainspring.

The existing version of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team” (Ref. IW388108) on a green rubber strap comes in a bundle with a black calfskin strap.
