Illuminate your beauty with the hottest make-up looks straight from the runways of Spring and Summer 2024. From radiant glow to playful pops of colour, Bushra Hakim picks out the latest trends that will have you shining bright all season long.

As flowers blossom, it’s time to refresh your beauty regimen and embrace the trends spotted on the runways of the SS2024 collections. For this season, the designers showcased a stunning array of make-up looks that celebrate individuality, creativity and the spirit of the season. From bold pops of colour to dewy, natural finishes, there’s something for everyone to love.

GLOWING SKIN
Bid adieu to your heavy matte foundations and befriend lightweight make-up – luminous, well-hydrated complexions take centre stage, emphasising natural beauty and healthy-looking skin. Achieve a coveted glow with hydrating foundations or tinted moisturisers that provide sheer coverage while allowing your skin’s natural radiance to shine through. For Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture Spring 2024, Pat McGrath layered cream and powder highlighters on the cheekbones for a mesmerising, multidimensional brilliance. Bare minimum make-up stole the spotlight, highlighting the importance of unblemished skin. This means skincare should be a top priority. Focus on hydration, exfoliation and protection to ensure your complexion is healthy. Invest in quality skincare products tailored to your skin type and concerns and follow a consistent regimen to maintain a flawless result.

COLOURFUL GRAPHIC LINERS
From Jil Sander to Khaite, the beauty looks were dazzling with graphic liners in vibrant hues, departing from the traditional black. From sleek, geometric shapes to exaggerated wings, graphic eyeliner adds a touch of drama and edgy style. To achieve this look, experiment with different shapes to find an option that suits your personal style, whether it’s a classic cat-eye or a futuristic, avant-garde design. Remember to keep the rest of your make-up minimal to let your graphic liner take centre stage. Opt for a felt-tip eyeliner pen for precise application.

PEACH FUZZ
Thanks to Pantone’s colour of the year, peachy tones were quite popular. Models showcased a delicate dusting of peach-toned blush for a fresh, youthful glow. Bold eye make-up and graphic liners were complemented with peach lips, keeping the look neutral yet impactful. Some shows, like Prada, even embraced fully peach eyeshadows. With endless possibilities, whether in blush, eyeshadow or lipstick, incorporate a hint of peach into your spring look.

GLOSSY LIPS
The ‘90s are back! Remember when lip gloss of all shades was all a girl ever wanted? Well, get ready to pucker up, with glossy lips making a triumphant return to the spotlight. The heavy eye make-up and dewy skin’s perfect companion was glossy lips. With the eyes being a focal point, the lips were kept minimal and shiny, an ideal complement to natural skin, making the look very cohesive. To get the best out of this style, keep your lips hydrated and kissably soft with nourishing lip balms and exfoliating treatments for a perfect pout that shines.

BOLD LIPS
Not a fan of glossy lips? No problem! Bold colours made a splash as well. Make a statement with lips that demand attention, as seen on the runways of Max Mara, Burberry and more, from rich reds to daring purples. To balance the lip colour, keep the eyes minimal with shades like taupe, peach or brown, allowing the lips to take centre stage.

PASTEL PIGMENTS
Pastel shades and spring? A match made in heaven. At Versace’s show, Pat McGrath wowed with vibrant pastels, crafting stunning cut creases that represented the spirit nof the season. Experiment with soft, diffused gradients and playful pops of pale tones to create looks that are whimsical and enchanting. Use one or multiple shades to create something that turns heads, just like the mesmerising looks seen at Giorgio Armani’s show.

METALLIC GLAM
Shimmer and shine like never before, with metallic glam. With sparkling silvers, shiny hues lit up the runways of Pierre Cardin and Marni. The use of minimal make-up provided the perfect blank canvas. Experiment with metallic eyeshadows, liquid liners and lipsticks to add a touch of drama and opulence to your make-up look. Whether you’re channelling space-age chic or disco diva vibes, metallic glitz is the perfect way to make a bold statement and stand out from the crowd.
