The Women’s Circle held its May Edition: ‘Women in Film,’ partnering with the Short Film Lab

Women’s Circle- an experience by Sheraton Grand Doha X Anahi continues to bring women together to create a safe platform with unique events.

Over 60 women across Doha attended the Women’s Circle May event at the Sheraton Grand Doha, together with the Short Film Lab. The event was hosted for an experience with a panel of female-led filmmaking. ‘Women in Film – Centering Young Women as Storytellers’ celebrated the Short Film Lab for empowering, mentoring and supporting a group of 14 incredible young women, residents of Qatar from 9 different nationalities. They each wrote, filmed and edited their first short movie, inspired by diverse themes impacting their lives. Together these projects offered unique glimpses into crucial issues facing their generation. The Lab was funded by the Community Grants program from the American Embassy Doha.

The Women’s Circle hosted some of the mentors, young filmmakers and other women in the industry, where they spoke about storytelling, filmmaking and more. The panelists featured; Nadia Al-Khater, Qatari filmmaker of ‘A Proposal’ and the ‘2022 Qatar National Museum branding video’, Dr. Mohana Rajakumar, Short Film Lab Founder, Producer’ Me Against the World’ and Suzannah Mirghani, Mentor, Writer & Director of ‘Al Sit’ and ‘Virtual Voice.’

Women’s Circle by Sheraton Grand Doha X Anahi created a full calendar of unique events with Global Wellness Day on June 11, Fluid Art Workshop on July 5 and more. With the aim of bringing women together from all backgrounds where they can share, discuss and witness each other’s journeys in a safe and enriching way with unique concepts & collaborations. The initiative comes under the ‘Together We’re Better’ CSR program inspired by Marriott’s spirit to serve the community.
