Chopard and Julia Roberts have come together to create a dazzling parure inspired by the striking Insofu Emerald.
Chopard unveil a mesmerising jewel set co-designed by Caroline Scheufele, the maison’s Co-President and Artistic Director, and Julia Roberts, the brand’s Global Ambassador. This exceptional collection pays homage to the breathtaking beauty of the Insofu Emerald, marking a significant moment in jewellery history.
The story behind this collaboration begins with the discovery of the extraordinary Insofu Emerald, a 6,225-carat gem found in Zambia’s Kagem mine. Chopard’s decision to acquire the uncut gem stemmed from its unparalleled quality and potential. Recognising the exceptional nature of the gem, Caroline engaged expert emerald cutters from India to unveil its unique character. The cutting process unfolded in Chopard’s Geneva workshops and Jaipur, India, where centuries of jewellery traditions provided a perfect backdrop.
Collaborating with Julia Roberts was a natural choice. As the maison’s Global Ambassador, she brings her creative vision and appreciation for fine jewellery to the table. Her longstanding relationship with Chopard and shared values with Caroline laid the foundation for a collaborative process rooted in mutual respect and trust. The resulting collection, Chopard x Julia Roberts, is a fusion of avant-garde design and timeless elegance.
The parure comprises a ring, necklace and earrings, each meticulously crafted to highlight the allure of the Insofu Emerald. It boldly blends the gem’s crystalline green, Julia Roberts’ beloved colour sky-blue turquoise and vibrant cherry-red rubellites that evoke the rich heritage of Indian jewellery while embodying contemporary sophistication. The cocktail ring forms a vibrant flower with drop-shaped gem petals, while the earrings feature dangling pear-shaped emeralds, rubellites and turquoise. The necklace is complemented with similar tassels of colourful gems.
Beyond aesthetics, the collection reflects Chopard’s commitment to sustainability, something that is very close to the actress’ heart. Crafted in Fairmined-certified ethical rose gold, each piece upholds the maison’s Journey to Sustainable Luxury. This dedication to responsible sourcing and transparency extends to the Insofu Emerald itself, which was purchased with the intention of ensuring traceability of the entire chain from mine to masterpiece.
