Built for jet pilots and known for being at the forefront of airborne adventure, Breitling introduces the newly redesigned Avenger collection.
Breitling’s ties to aviation date back to the 1930s, when third-generation founder Willy Breitling formed the HUIT Aviation Department, to create precision aircraft instruments and pilots’ chronographs. Over the years this connection has resulted in such renowned timepieces as the Navitimer, the AVI Co-Pilot and the Avenger.
Now, the latter has been reimagined in a new range coming in three formats – a 44mm chronograph, a 44mm automatic GMT and a 42mm automatic. Each has 300m water resistance, easy-grip functionality and corrosion-resistant construction.
Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 and Night Mission
Providing around 70 hours of power, the driving force behind the new Avenger chronograph is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01. To reveal the movement’s precise mechanics, the chronos are equipped with an open sapphire-crystal caseback.
With a rotating 60-minute, stainless steel bezel, core models have a coloured dial in either blue, green, black or sand. The chrono hand is tipped in eye-catching red and there are new square pushers, designed for the smoothest timekeeping operation.
The Avenger Night Mission chronograph offers a bolder look. Available with a vibrant yellow or carbon black dial, the case and bezel are crafted from scratch-resistant ceramic while the caseback, crown, pushers and buckle are solid titanium, which has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal. Dial numerals are made specially out of resilient carbon fibre. Featuring carbon fibre, titanium and steel, the Avenger is made to be light and tough, just like the jets from which it takes its inspiration.
Avenger Automatic Gmt 44
With a 24-hour, rotating bezel, a red GMT hand provides at-a-glance reading of Zulu time (GMT). The steel-cased Avenger Automatic GMT has the same diameter as the chrono and comes in a choice of black or naval-blue dials, with a military leather strap or three-row, stainless-steel bracelet. Power comes from the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 32 providing a 42-hour reserve.
Avenger Automatic 42
Made of steel and boasting a trimmer 42mm diameter, the Avenger Automatic offers a choice of black, naval-blue or camo-green dial, with the option of a matching military leather strap or three-row, stainless-steel bracelet. Driven by the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17 automatic three-hand movement, it delivers up to 38 hours of power.
“The Avenger was created to stand up to the relentless conditions of a jet cockpit and to support pilots in demanding aerial manoeuvres. Its redesign demanded nothing less,” says Breitling CEO Georges Kern. “This collection pairs all the performance with sophisticated modern aviation style.”
